JL – I visited an exhibition of portraits of Arnold Schoenberg in Paris. In addition to the portraits, clips from his life were projected in the adjacent room, while his atonal music was played. There was no one in the darkened room. The music completely overwhelmed me, I don’t know how long I was in that state. I was deeply moved by this for many years afterwards.
